If Your Heart Feels Wrong...

...but Every Test Says You’re “Fine”

This Book Explains Why—and How Calm Can Return

Gastrocardiac Syndrome, Roemheld Syndrome & Vagus Nerve Healing

 You’re not imagining it!

Your heart really is racing, skipping beats, fluttering and/or pounding—sometimes after eating, sometimes when you lie down, sometimes for no obvious reason at all.

Your chest might feel tight. Your breathing might feel shallow or unsatisfying. A wave of anxiety may appear suddenly, without any clear trigger.

You’ve probably:

  • had your heart checked.
  • had ECGs, blood tests, maybe even scans or a stress test.
  • been told some version of the same sentence: “Everything looks normal.”

At first, that sounds reassuring.

But when the symptoms keep happening, the reassurance starts to feel hollow.

Because if nothing is wrong… why does your body still feel so frightening?

This book exists for that exact reason; because I was just like you once.

The Symptoms Are Real—Even If the Explanation Was Missing

Many people with gut-triggered heart symptoms are told it’s “just anxiety.”

But that explanation never quite fits—because the fear comes after the sensation, not before it.

Because symptoms often start after meals.

Because gas, bloating, pressure, or reflux seem to make everything worse.

And because deep down, you know this is happening to your body—it's not something you’re imagining.

This book explains what’s really going on, in plain language, without medical jargon or scare tactics.

When Digestion Triggers the Heart

There is a real, physical reason why digestive distress can cause heart-like symptoms.

Gas, bloating, pressure, inflammation, and rapid digestion can overstimulate the vagus nerve—the communication pathway between your gut, heart, lungs, and brain.

When that happens, the heart can react reflexively:

  • Palpitations

  • Irregular beats

  • Chest tightness

  • Shortness of breath

  • Sudden panic sensations

  • Pale face / cold sweat

Your heart definitely is NOT failing.

It’s responding.

Understanding that difference is often the first moment of real relief.

Why This Book Is Different

This is not a medical textbook.
It’s not a list of diagnoses.
And it’s not a promise of a 'miracle' cure.

This book is a calm, lived explanation written by someone who went through it—who experienced gut-triggered heart symptoms, nervous system instability, and the fear that comes with being told you’re “fine” when you don’t feel fine at all.

Instead of overwhelming you with theories, it gently walks you through:

  • Why these symptoms happen

  • Why they feel so intense

  • Why they’re usually not dangerous

  • And how relief can be rebuilt quickly, but step by step

Without forcing your body.
Without fighting sensations.
Without living in constant fear.

What You’ll Learn Inside the Book

This book will help you:

  • Understand the gut–heart connection in simple, reassuring terms

  • Recognize why symptoms often appear after eating or during bloating

  • Learn why vagus nerve sensitivity can feel like anxiety or heart trouble

  • Stop panicking when sensations arise—and prevent them from escalating

  • Discover how diet, timing, and digestion affect symptoms

  • Build a calm, repeatable daily rhythm that supports stability

  • Rebuild trust in your body and your heart

Most importantly, it helps you move from monitoring your body… to living in it again.

Who This Book Is For

This book is for you if:

  • Your heart symptoms began after eating, stress, or digestive changes

  • You’ve been told your heart is healthy but still feel afraid

  • You experience bloating, gas, reflux, or IBS-type symptoms

  • Anxiety feels physical, sudden, and out of proportion

  • You suspect your nervous system plays a role

  • You want reassurance without being dismissed

Who This Book Is Not For

This book is not for:

  • People looking for a medical or miracle cure

  • Anyone seeking medical diagnoses

  • Those unwilling to gently adjust habits or lifestyle

  • People who want reassurance without understanding

This book is about working with your body—not forcing it.

A Gentle, Honest Promise

This book does not promise that symptoms will never happen again.

What it offers instead is something more valuable:

Understanding.

Perspective.

And the ability to stay calm when sensations arise.

For many people, that alone dramatically reduces symptoms—because fear is no longer fuelling the cycle.

About the Author

Charlie Lampitt developed frightening gut-triggered heart symptoms in his late-twenties (1996) after ceasing anxiety medications after he removed his anxiety disorders after 22 years of suffering.

After repeated medical reassurance but no real explanation, he spent years learning—through lived experience—how digestion, the vagus nerve, and the heart interact, and how calm can be rebuilt without force or fear.

This book was written for people who feel stuck between “you’re fine” and “this doesn’t feel fine.”
